The CBD market is flourishing and it is estimated that it will reach $16 Billion in the United States by 2025. Already, the extract of cannabis is used to make cheeseburgers, toothpicks, and breath sprays. According to a Brightfield Group survey of more than 5,000 people, CBD users take it for anxiety. Chronic pain, insomnia, and depression are also common. Kim Kardashian West used the product to help her “freaking mad” after the birth of her fourth child. Bubba Watson is a professional golfer who goes to sleep with the product. Martha Stewart’s French bulldog takes part, too.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is the lesser-known child of the cannabis Sativa plant; its more famous sibling, tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the active ingredient in pot that catapults users’ “high.” Although the roots of the cannabis plant are located in Central Asia, it is believed that the plant was first used medicinally_ or for rituals around 750 B.C.
THC and cannabidiol (the plant’s other 100 cannabinoids) are only two. THC is psychoactive. CBD is not. THC can raise anxiety. CBD, if it has any effect at all, may be able to reduce it. CBD is being explored to help those recovering from addiction.
Hemp containing less than 0.3 percent is cannabis. The Farm Bill, which legalized hemp last year under federal law was also preserved the Food and Drug Administration’s oversight for products derived from cannabis.
What are the claims made?
CBD Delta 8 THC is promoted as being able to relieve anxiety, depression, stress, and post-traumatic disorder. It is also advertised to promote sleep. CBD is popular due to its non-psychoactive nature, which means that CBD can be used for health purposes without causing a high.
Marketing is as important in hemp marketing as it is for the seedlings. CBD products can be found everywhere, from oils and nasal sprays all the way to lollipops and suppositories. “It is the monster that has overtaken the room,” Dr. Brad Ingram of the University of Mississippi Medical Center spoke out about the wide range of CBD uses. He is leading a trial that will test CBD for children and teens suffering from drug-resistant seizures.
